@REMAX #MonthofMiracles: Motorcycle for Miracles.

Throughout August, we're celebrating RE/MAX Miracle Agents across North America who do year-round fundraising for local CMN Hospitals during the 5th annual Month of Miracles. Visit remax.com to find a Miracle Home or Miracle Agent in your community.

Bruce Johnson, a RE/MAX Miracle Agent, and his daughter Holly are at it again with Motorcycle for Miracles, raising funds for and visiting the 14 Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals across Canada. The father-daughter duo coincides with the RE/MAX Month of Miracles.

On Aug. 1 the Johnsons began their 31-day journey over more than 9,400 kilometers from St John’s, Newfoundland, to Vancouver, British Columbia to raise funds for children’s hospitals. They are greeted by local RE/MAX agents who celebrate their arrival at each of the 14 member hospitals.

A RE/MAX agent from Wasaga Beach, Johnson has been riding for Children’s Miracle Network since 2013. When he and his wife lost their newborn daughter Alyssa in 1998, they chose to channel the painful experience into one of hope for other families by raising awareness and necessary funds. What started as a goal to raise $25,000 for the SickKids Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network has turned into more than $100,000 raised in honor of their daughter.

"It means so much to me and my family to be able to honour our daughter and sister Alyssa's memory in this way," said Johnson.  "Being able to combine my passion for motorcycle travel, my wonderful relationships with my RE/MAX family, my unwavering commitment to being an ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network, PLUS being able to make these special memories with my daughter, well for me it really is the Month of Miracles."

RE/MAX #MonthofMiracles: Climbing to Make Miracles Happen.

Throughout August, we're celebrating RE/MAX Miracle Agents across North America who do year-round fundraising for local CMN Hospitals during the 5th annual Month of Miracles. Visit remax.com to find a Miracle Home or Miracle Agent in your community.

Miracle Agent Scott MacDonald of Virginia and a group of his RE/MAX colleagues and friends from the D.C. area, Florida and the Cayman Islands, are spending this year’s RE/MAX Month of Miracles in training. Yes, training. They’re getting warmed up for a four-day trek next month through the Andes Mountains, where they’ll raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on their hike to one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu.

RemaxHikers

It will be the second fundraising climb for most of the group (they’ve welcomed a few newcomers this year). Last year, they braved Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, raising $35,000 for CMN Hospitals. This year’s goal: $50,000.

“We do it because we want to be part of something bigger than ourselves,” MacDonald says. “The climbs themselves and the hikes we do to get ready are a great way to build camaraderie. And we feel good knowing that we’re helping families who want their kids to have the best care but might not be able to afford it.”

Way to go, Team RE/MAX: Scott MacDonald, Mark Butterfield, Kevin Acker, Katie Lambert, Sarah Moorman, Becky Green, Melissa Walsh, Angie Delboy and Adria Bordas.

Thanks so much for the support, and we wish you a safe and prosperous journey. Take lots of photos!

KrogerChildren’s Miracle Network Hospitals is proud to announce that Kroger divisions throughout Texas, Georgia, Michigan, and the Mid-Atlantic for the first time ever raised over $1 million dollars during the CMN Hospital icon campaigns. Kroger has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1996, raising more than $11 million for sick and injured kids. Funds generated during the in-store campaign are unrestricted, meaning the hospitals can use the funds however they are needed most.

“The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign offers Kroger shoppers an extraordinary opportunity to help save the lives of children in their own communities,” said Rachel Hurst, consumer affairs manager, The Kroger Co. of Michigan. “Sixty-two children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital every minute seeking treatment for a range of life-threatening illnesses, including cancer. The doors at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are always open – regardless of a family’s ability to pay.”

In addition, and under the Direct Energy umbrellas, powerful brands such as One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, Mister Sparky and Bounce Energy join forces to collect donations each October and throughout the year to help provide equipment and medical treatments for children with injuries, and help fund preventative education and programs that simply keep kids out of the hospital.

RE/MAX #MonthofMiracles: Trudy Wilson

Throughout August, we're celebrating RE/MAX Miracle Agents across North America who do year-round fundraising for local CMN Hospitals during the 5th annual Month of Miracles. Visit remax.com to find a Miracle Home or Miracle Agent in your community.

RE/MAX agent Trudy Wilson is swimming the Trent-Severn Waterway in Peterborough this summer in honour of her daughter, Taylor, who died from severe birth injuries 18 years ago at Sick Kids in Toronto, and to raise funds for the children’s hospital that means so much to her.

Miracle Agent Trudy

“It was such a storm in our lives,” said Wilson. “I knew that she had her best chances at Sick Kids hospital, and so that’s why I want to help them to continue to do what they do best.”

The Bridgenorth resident pledged in 2015 to raise $25,000 for Sick Kids over five years and is already a quarter of the way there with last year’s 386-kilometre trek. Though she’s never undertaken anything of this magnitude, Wilson said it’s others’ confidence in her that’s given her that push. This year, Wilson, 46, planned to swim five hours and 10 kilometres each day, making for a 40-day trip with rest days.

With special permission from Parks Canada to swim in the channels (except Lift Lock), she will be accompanied by a boat at all times. Wilson’s actions show her gratitude for the tremendous support and work of the staff at Sick Kids. The funds she continues to raise are sure to make a difference in the lives of families like hers.

RE/MAX Month of Miracles: Isaiah's Story.

Throughout August, we're celebrating RE/MAX Miracle Agents across North America who do year-round fundraising for local CMN Hospitals during the 5th annual Month of Miracles. Visit remax.com to find a Miracle Home or Miracle Agent in your community.

Miracle Agent Robert Struck from RE/MAX of Michigan has been committed to raising funds and awareness for CMN Hospitals since his son Isaiah suffered severe second- and third-degree burns on much of his body following a bonfire accident. Below, Struck shares what it means to his family to be connected both to RE/MAX and CMN Hospitals.

Struck family_Momentum

When I was asked to describe what Children's Miracle Network Hospitals means to us, I didn't know how I could do it in just two paragraphs. When Isaiah's accident happened, we had no warning and could not have prepared for the care he would need for recovery.

Our son suffered greatly, but in the midst of that suffering, donations from CMN Hospitals provided us a place to stay, a shower so that we were comfortable and could remain by Isaiah’s side throughout treatment and movies to keep Isaiah preoccupied — the only thing that seemed to help him through his pain. Through it all, we learned to accept unwavering compassion and generosity from our friends, family, coworkers, doctors and nurses.

After spending weeks at the hospital, unable to work, our RE/MAX office in Bay City held a fundraiser to help us with costs. To sum up how we feel about CMN Hospitals and our involvement as a business, I could hardly do justice with words. We do, however, know how CMN Hospitals changed our lives and helped us with the care of our son. To us, our involvement and the RE/MAX involvement with CMN Hospitals is not only necessary, but priceless to families out there just like us. When our storm hit, CMN Hospitals was the umbrella that helped us get back to sunshine and clear skies. Thank you, on behalf of the Struck family and all families who have received care and support from CMN Hospitals.
